Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs

Pima Association of Governments is an active partner in bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts in the region. As the regional planning agency, PAG brings together diverse groups, interests and jurisdictions in order to improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs.

Through PAG’s leadership, the Tucson/Eastern Pima County region has been designated a Gold Level bicycle friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists (LAB). This is the only region in the country that collaborates and submits an application on behalf of all the local jurisdictions.

Our community is proud of the regional commitment to improve walking and cycling conditions and to encourage more people to try these healthy transportation alternatives. The current bicycle network consists of over 950 miles of bicycle lanes, routes, shared-use paths/trails and bicycle boulevards.

PAG recognizes the excellent work being done by jurisdictions throughout the region. To learn more about the existing jurisdictional programs, click on the links, at right, under Jurisdictional Bike/Ped Programs. Also under additional resources, you’ll find links to bicycle safety information, commuting guidance as well as links to regional bicycle and pedestrian events.

We're a Bicycle Friendly Region

PAG's Platinum Challenge Task Force is preparing to submit an application for Platinum level status in February 2012.
