 2040 Regional Transportation Plan

Pima Association of Governments is updating the region’s long-range transportation plan, called the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). Looking ahead 30 years, we will identify the most efficient improvements to our transportation system so that we can build livable communities for ourselves and future generations.

 Think Big

When you participate in our workshops, forums and open houses, and when you fill out our comment form, we want you to think big. Remember we are living in a growing community. Consider the need and cost to build and maintain roads, bus lanes and sidewalks, to address air pollution, to expand the use of alternative forms of transportation (bikes, buses and the street car), and to make our roads safer.

People throughout the metropolitan area will be asked to:
  • Confirm the vision and goals we previously defined
  • Identify specific transportation needs and ways they could be addressed
  • Consider the need to balance growth with our natural and financial resources
  • Imagine together our best future.
Pima Association of Governments will lead the planning effort, but residents throughout the region are the heart of the process.

 Mobility Matters

Mobility refers to the movement of people and goods. The Mobility Matters theme reflects the need for a long-range plan designed to move people and goods to their destinations
