 Environmental Planning

PAG’s Watershed Planning program conducts planning and coordination on various water-related topics, such as helping local municipalities and other interested parties comply with stormwater regulations and conducting hydrologic research on Cienega Creek.

The Clean Cities program is focused on reducing the region’s dependence on foreign oil and promoting clean-fuel technology, which leads to improved air quality.

The Air Quality Planning program conducts research and planning activities and provides technical support for regional transportation planning to ensure compliance with air quality standards.

The Environmental Planning Advisory Committee (EPAC) oversees the activities of the Environmental Planning Division.

PAG currently is working cooperatively with the Tucson-Pima County Metropolitan Energy Commission to develop a Greater Tucson Strategic Energy Plan to position the region as a leader in the development of renewable energy, clean energy technologies, energy surety and green building techniques.

Pima Association of Governments’ Environmental Planning Division is advancing awareness of and regional solutions to long-standing and emerging environmental challenges. The emphasis is on coordinating efforts with PAG’s member jurisdictions to ensure that regional environmental concerns have a forum for debate and to consider approaches for future action. Regional sustainability is a key concern given the surrounding desert environment and the region's rapid growth and development.
