PAG’s Watershed Planning Program focuses on ways to preserve or improve the water resources in Pima County's watersheds. The program conducts research and provides planning and technical assistance to PAG-member jurisdictions. The program also plans for areawide wastewater treatment needs under Section 208 of the U.S. Clean Water Act and annually conducts a stormwater pollution prevention campaign.
PAG’s Watershed Planning Program also staffs the Statewide Water Quality Management Working Group. This group consists of representatives from each of the State’s Council’s of Government as well as the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and other state and federal agency representatives. Statewide 208 amendments must be approved by the working group before amendments are forwarded to ADEQ or the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for approval.
